Questions And Answers

Stamping

What kinds of parts are made using compound dies?

Parts made with compound dies typically are flat.  The complete stamping is made with one stroke of the press.  This means all features are made at the same time, both I.D. and O.D., the features hold very close tolerances.  Parts with tight concentricity or true position call-outs are excellent candidates for compound dies.  Due to the process, parts requiring tight flatness callouts are also excellent candidates.
